About.

As a dedicated lifelong learner, I love to learn new things and be challenged to continually expand my perception of the world around me. After a 25-year career in communications, with a focus on public relations and writing, I’m returning to my passion of creating visual art.

Color has a profound impact on me, and over the years, I've taken a variety of art classes – from drawing as a child to completing college and educational courses in pastels and acrylic painting, pottery, loom weaving and fiber arts. A few years ago, I took a class at the Art Colony in Grand Marais, Minnesota, and spent a weekend playing with watercolor. I was hooked! It’s a joy for me to work in this medium – I love the transparency of the paints and the marvelous fusing of colors.

I'm inspired by the energy, light, and shadows of landscapes, especially water, trees, rocks and sky. There is something immensely healing about being outdoors – to take the time to give thanks, experience the silence and solitude of nature, and witness God’s incredible handiwork.

I enjoy painting rural landscapes well as scenes along the shores of the Great Lakes. One of my favorite activities it to take roadtrips and follow the “blue roads” – those lesser-traveled, winding roads that may hold surprising finds or spectacular vistas. In our family travels, we've visited friends in The Netherlands and Ireland, and the incredibly beautiful landscapes of these countries are often reflected in my paintings.
